Leeds United’s transfer pursuit of Luca Netz could indeed be considered ambitious, especially with the looming interest from Manchester United.

It’s certainly ambitious for Leeds United to pursue Luca Netz, especially with competition from Manchester United. It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out.

Leeds United will be starting to draw up their summer plans despite the uncertainty of what league they are going to be in next season.

Leeds United are deeply entrenched in the race for an automatic promotion spot in the Championship, alongside Leicester City, Ipswich Town, and Southampton. With only a few games remaining, Leeds currently occupy second place, trailing leaders Leicester by just three points.

So, Leeds will hope it is Premier League football next season, which will allow them to branch out further when it comes to transfer targets.

Names are already being mentioned about a possible move to Leeds, with Borussia Monchengladbach defender Luca Netz someone who has emerged, but any chance of that happening will likely be down to whether they are in the Premier League next season.

It was reported by HITC’s Graeme Bailey, that Manchester United, along with Arsenal and Chelsea, are keeping an eye on Borussia Monchengladbach defender Luca Netz.

The 20-year-old has earned a reputation as one of the Bundesliga’s top left-backs, with standout performances this season drawing interest from heavyweight clubs. However, Leeds United are also reportedly scouting the full-back, according to Give Me Sport.

The report states that the Whites have been keeping an eye on the defender, but a move from Leeds would only happen if they secured promotion to the Premier League.

Leeds are ambitious looking to sign Luca Netz, given Manchester United’s interest

Obviously, whether Leeds are in the Premier League or the Championship next season, they will be looking at ways they can improve the side.

It appears Luca Netz has become a target of interest for the club, as they explore the possibility of securing a deal. Strengthening the left-back position is a priority for Leeds United, given its recent weakness. Reports suggest Junior Firpo’s tenure at the club is nearing its conclusion, with indications that a new contract will not be extended to him.

So, Leeds do need a new left-back, and Netz would be a very good replacement, as he’s shown this season, he is a very promising player.

Luca Netz has been a regular presence in the Bundesliga this season, featuring in 22 matches, 20 of which he started. Despite not scoring, he has been influential in attacking play, registering three assists, surpassing his expected assists (xA) of 2.30. Additionally, he has created three significant scoring opportunities for his teammates and averages 1.3 key passes per game, according to Sofascore.com.

While defensively, Netz has helped the German side keep three clean sheets, with 0.9 interceptions per game as well as 1.6 tackles, and has only been dribbled past 0.8 times.

While Luca Netz’s statistics may not be extraordinary, especially considering his age and playing time, his performance in the Bundesliga is commendable. It’s understandable that big Premier League teams are taking notice of his potential. However, for Leeds United, pursuing Netz could indeed be viewed as ambitious, given the competition they face from these heavyweight clubs.
