Keith Wyness, Everton’s ex-chief, has implied that Nottingham Forest could be fined for their VAR outburst and the aftermath, rather than receiving another points deduction.
In the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Keith Wyness, the 66-year-old who was once CEO at Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009 and currently operates a football consultancy for elite clubs, stated that Nottingham Forest was mistaken in threatening legal action following their 2-0 defeat against Everton on April 21st.
The Premier League have launched a probe into the bitter row between Forest and refereeing chiefs.
Nottingham Forest issued a statement regarding the VAR incident shortly after the match at Goodison Park, mentioning their warning to the PGMOL about Stuart Atwell being a Luton fan and expressing consideration of future actions.
Additionally, Nuno Espirito Santo’s team has already faced a four-point deduction this season for violating the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
Keith Wyness stated that Forest’s threat of legal action was misplaced, anticipating that they will likely receive a financial penalty as further punishment.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I’m sure there will be nothing to do with points as a punishment for this.
“It’ll probably be a fine for Forest. The club may receive some financial penalty – but I don’t think it will be any more than that.
